Most residential neighbourhoods in Kingston were designed around parks and green spaces for use by children and families. Many parks are equipped with playground equipment for toddlers and older children.

Kingston City Hall is located on Ontario Street in downtown Kingston. Staff members are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday to answer questions from the public by phone, online and in person. Service in other languages can be requested.
City Hall is where you can:
- Buy transit (bus) passes and photo ID
- Get blue and grey box recycling bins and buy garbage bag tags
- Pay utility bills
- Pay municipal taxes
- Register for a recreation program
- Pay parking tickets
- Renew parking permits
- Purchase a marriage licence
- Obtain business permits and licences
- Purchase or renew a pet tag

Guided tours of historic City Hall are available to the public at no charge from May to September, Monday through Friday with 2 weeks advance reservation. Self-guided tours can be made from October to mid-May.
Online payment services for transit (bus) passes, pet tags, parking permits, parking tickets and provincial fines. Also registration and payment for recreation programs.
