Depending on your trade or area of expertise, a licence or Ontario certification may be required to work in that type of job. Some professions are regulated and, for some trades, certification is necessary.
It is important to thoroughly research your profession in advance to find out if you qualify to work in Ontario. Regulatory bodies often have different requirements from province to province and within Ontario.
If you do not meet the education or licensing requirements, there are programs and services available to help you. One example is a Bridging Program, which helps newcomers to assess existing skills and qualifications. Bridging programs also provide training and Canadian workplace experience though mentoring opportunities.
