Employment Services, Resource Centres & Job Boards

Newcomers can start searching for a job before they arrive in Kingston. Many employers advertise their current employment opportunities on job websites. Job postings generally include the duties of the position, salary range, education and employment qualifications, and information about how to apply. Job applications can often be made online. Many websites that advertise employment opportunities require users to register before they can search the database. See For More Information links below for various job board listings.

The Kingston Frontenac Public Library has computers in each branch that can be used by the public at no charge.

After you've arrived, newcomers can get help finding work from employment resource centres.

  • KEYS Employment Services has a large resource centre where job seekers can use telephones, fax machines and computers at no charge. KEYS staff are available to help with writing resumes and cover letters and to teach newcomers job-search and interview skills. Information about the labour market, financial assistance, credential assessment and employment opportunities is also available through KEYS.
  • Frontenac Employment Resource Centre provides employment and career resources to students and adults looking for jobs. Staff can assist with writing resumes and cover letters and preparing for interviews. Information is also available about government programs, apprenticeships, education and training, and job search strategies. Computer and Internet access, telephones, fax machines and photocopying are available.
  • ACFOMI Employment Services provides assistance in both English and French to job seekers who want to enter the job market and possibly change careers. ACFOMI has information on the local job market and employment agencies, and provides direct employment assistance, including writing resumes, drafting cover letters, practice interviews and career counselling. Computers with Internet access and other office equipment are available for use.
