Special Education

In Ontario, students who have special educational needs because of physical, emotional, intellectual, or other reasons attend elementary and high schools along with other students. Schools encourage students to participate as fully as possible in the life of the school. Some students may require special programs or services that are different from other students and designed to accommodate their particular circumstances.

All school boards in Ontario have policies and programs for children with special educational needs. Parents who believe their children require special programming should expect to work closely with school officials to develop an educational plan that best suits their child.
