Doing Business

The Canadian government welcomes newcomers with a proven background in business and an interest in growing the Canadian economy. Canada's "business class" of immigrants includes investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people. Newcomers who can make a contribution to the cultural, athletic or agricultural life of Canada can also enter Canada under the business class.

Business immigrants have access to programs and services to help identify potential opportunities in your new communities and understand the local labour market. Government incentive programs are also available to business immigrants to help with the costs of starting a new business or becoming self-employed.

This section has information for business-minded newcomers about immigration programs, starting and licensing a business, self-employment, investment and financing, and the rules and regulations governing the operation of a business in Ontario. It also has information about opportunities in the Kingston community and the agencies that can help you get started (see Business & Investment Prospects).
